Dustin, known as Dust by his friends, is the lead homicide detective with the Strandherd Police Department. He is headstrong and somewhat reckless. Since the death of his partner and lover Quill Hayes he has become more distant and aloof. His actions are often fueled by his emotions for better or for worse, yet without Quill to ground him he tends to act without regard for his own safety. Despite this, Dustin is a deeply empathetic person who cares deeply for those around him, though can find this difficult to express. He's willing to risk whatever it will take to keep those he holds close safe.

Quill was a described as a good-natured, caring, playful, and somewhat cheeky young man. During his time in the Strandherd Police Academy he met Dustin Thorne who he developed a long lasting romantic relationship with, going on to join the Strandherd Police department alongside him. He rose through the ranks in the SPD, eventually becoming lead homicide detective gaining a great deal of respect among his colleagues. He had a strong sense of justice and approached problems critically while Dustin complimented him in providing a more heated energy to his some subdued nature.

He was murdered in October 2013 at the age of 29, his death was attributed to the Strandherd Ripper.

Alerick is a reliable, patient, and thoughtful member of the Stanherd Police Department. Due to the increased number of resignations, Alerick has found himself leaving his desk job to resume a more active role in the force as the replacement lieutenant. He is close friends with Dustin and Naomi.

Wearing his heart of his sleeve, it's easy for Quinn to take things a little too much to heart, having yet developed the thick outer shell his colleagues have. Even so, Quinn remains steadfast in his convictions, having a strong moral compass towards justice and compassion.
